Industrial photography for an annual report
How do you shoot a clinical-looking laboratory in an attractive way? Genmab, an international biotech company, entrusted the job to corporate photographer Jeroen Bouman. After all, the industrial photography had to illustrate their important annual report.
“A lab is basically a work shop, but one with lots of bright colours and in many different shapes. They’re all rather distracting from the essence in a photograph, and also lit by cold fluorescent light.”
“I knew I had to shoot with an absolute minimum of depth of field to blur distracting elements. And by focussing on peoples hands -they do all the work- I could isolate the subject even more.”
This approach resulted in a consistent series in which corporate photographer Jeroen Bouman was able to add a human touch to industrial photography. That’s a huge plus in an annual report, because any company relies on its own people.
