“In these corporate portraits, I’ve used stronger, more directional lighting. Combined with added contrast in post processing, it results in rather punchy portraits that emphasize the power of Dutch captains of industry.”
Executives can sometimes be a little headstrong, but that’s never a problem for Jeroen Bouman. He’ll listen to their suggestions and opinions, and -when relevant- adapts effortlessly.
“A portrait photographer must have flexible attitude. If a different approach results in a better corporate portrait, I’m open to new ideas. It’s not about me, it’s about the final result. On the other hand I can be firm and I always remain true to myself. That’s always greatly appreciated.”
The corporate portraits in this portfolio were mostly published in interviews in corporate publications. Think of corporate magazines, staff magazines and professional journals.
“In those kind of publications, a corporate portrait may look a bit stronger than in, say, an annual report. As a photographer, you have a little more creative freedom.”
